CONSUMPTION - The end of loyalty cards
How many loyalty cards do you have in your wallet? I guess a good ten if not more?
Some brands are already offering to replace them with a virtual card, integrated into a dedicated smartphone application. Let us cite Leroy Merlin, Lidl, Picard, Action,… and already many others. It's becoming widespread.
Indeed, it is announced that, in the near future, according to a CREDOC investigation, all these plastic cards, generally Carte Bleue format, will disappear in favor of their identical ones on mobile phone screens.
Moreover, this movement now also concerns all subscriptions, in particular transport subscriptions (SNCF, RATP, local public transport), cinema and library subscriptions, as well as other supporting documents such as identity card, passport, driving license, vital and mutual insurance,… and credit card.
In this area, the Asians (South Korea, Japan, China, etc.) seem to have taken a head start: we are taking the same path a good ten years behind. In short, it is inevitable.
It will still be necessary to master new technologies, including the use of smartphones, and agree to trust the virtual world: many elderly people risk dropping out, voluntarily or not. The European Commission should give recommendations…
