FRANCE - French people leave highways
This is the conclusion made by the motorway operators in France, ASF, SANEF, SAPRR and Cofiroute. And behind them, the groups that bought them: Eiffage, Macquarie (Australia), Vinci and Abertis (Spain).
Why ?
In fact, several phenomena contribute to it.
First and foremost, the increasingly high rates of access to them, which considerably increases the travel budget. Associated with wait times consistent with the toll barriers, during major seasonal migrations.
But also and especially the huge cost now, fuels. The French compensate by avoiding highway tolls. Especially that, in fact, the consumption is less on National because reduced speed.
And the safety of vehicles is increasingly efficient and therefore offsets that provided by the motorway infrastructure.
In addition, the development of the electric or even the hybrid does not facilitate traffic at 130km / h.
And the French rediscover the pleasures of wandering through our charming regions ...
